Filming is the creative process by which a film depicts an event. Filming typically involves several discrete and complex stages including: a story, concept, or proposal, through filming, editing, casting, photography, production design, and promotion. Film production includes any activity that allows you to depict a product or idea as completely as possible within the time and budget you have available. There are three basic parts to any successful film production. These include: plot, characters, and photography.
The planning stage is the stage in which you work out the various details of the film production. This stage is extremely important because it helps you determine what will be the focus of your film, what the emotional tones are supposed to be, and how much money and effort you will need to spend on the different elements of your film. In addition, in the planning stage you determine what types of movies you wish to make, what genre you wish to explore, and what specific theme you wish to develop throughout the film production. During this phase you should also make a list of character roles that you would like to be involved in, and what aspects of your characters and stories you wish to explore in the film.
Once you have the outline of your film production, you must move into the pre-production phase. During this stage you will start working on every aspect of your production: planning out your filmography, determining which locations and vehicles you will use, working out the film crew, and designing your costumes. You may also begin pre-casting actors and actresses and beginning the casting process.
During the editing stage, you will work to polish your film production. This stage is often referred to as the sound stage, because all the sound effects and music for your film will be recorded using microphones and recorders. You will then edit all the footage captured using the recorders – cutting away extra footage, re-recording dialogue if necessary, and trimming film footage so that it fits together in the final film. The editor will use software such as Avid Media Access (AMA) to cut together the audio and video and will use this final edit to create the desired effect.
In addition to these major filming stages there are several other smaller stages associated with film production. The first stage is the writing and rewriting eventfilm. During this stage you will work to flesh out the story so that it meets the expectations of the producers and/or studio executives. This is also the stage where mistakes are made and screenplay material is replaced by actual screenplay pages. At this stage you are just finishing writing the rough draft of the film, but it is still very important that you keep track of changes and drafts so that you can address any flaws as soon as possible.
The next stage of film production is the directing and editing stages. At this point the film production team has completed the writing and is in the pre-production phase. This is when you will start doing everything from planning and assembling the locations and props to the last minute additions and changes. During this stage you will begin filming the shoot and will edit together the music and sound tracks. Your aim is to make the best film possible, and you want to ensure that each and every aspect of the film is polished to give the viewer a professional finish. You will be faced with many decisions during this process, including choosing your cast, deciding on the type of footage you will use, and more.
Post-production is when you have completed film production, and your movie is completed. There are three stages of post-production that are essential for successful film production, the most important of which is editing. This stage allows you to trim and fix any potential errors. It is during post-production stages that you will begin to distribute the film to various outlets such as DVD distributors and television networks. It is during post-production stages that you may also decide to enter your film into various contests and award competitions.
The final stage of film production management is the development of the film. This is often considered the dark stage, because at this point you have completed the most crucial elements of the film. When this stage is complete, you will be able to look at your film as a complete work, and can work towards completing all aspects of the story. This will include hiring a writer to write the screenplay, and you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with your director regarding the direction of the film.
